Writing has always been an activity that acts as both an enjoyment and therapy. There are many things we are not able to say in front of people but if we pen them down, it makes it easier to get our message to those we want to say these things to. Over the years, I have written many blogs, some of which I erased because of their immaturity and lack of quality. But one good thing came out of these failed blogs – I started getting plot ideas for writing a novel.
However many ideas I may have for writing a novel, it’s not the same as writing a blog. There is the first draft, followed by as many changes and improvements as needed for it to be completed. Then there is the proofreading, followed by more changes. Then we move on to the publishers, with whom there is always a chance of rejection. Even if we get through all these hurdles, we can never be sure if it will be popular enough with the readers. High chance of failure, isn’t it?
If there existed a possibility that I would not fail at one activity that I decide to do, I would be the writer I have always wanted to be. I would pen down all my ideas into my novels and even consider changing my profession from a management student to a full time writer.
Unfortunately, that cannot be possible in real life for me at least. Not entirely because of the reasons mentioned above, but primarily, because I am lazy. Much patience is needed to write the first draft. And multiple modifications to the draft followed by proofreading and still more modifications is something I don’t have the time or the patience for.
However, recently, I have had a collection of so many ideas for a novel, that I feel the need to try my hand at writing one. Currently writing the first draft, I hope to be successful with the endeavour till the proofreading phase at least. Wish me luck.
